Product Overview

MCP4802-E/P is a dual 8bit voltage output DAC with internal VREF and SPI interface. The device operates from a single 2.7V to 5.5V supply with SPI compatible serial peripheral interface. The device has a high precision internal voltage reference (VREF = 2.048V). The devices include double-buffered registers, allowing synchronous updates of two DAC outputs using the LDAC pin. These devices also incorporate a Power-on Reset (POR) circuit to ensure reliable powerup. The device utilizes a resistive string architecture, with its inherent advantages of low DNL error, low ratio metric temperature coefficient and fast settling time. The device provides high accuracy and low noise performance for consumer and industrial applications where calibration or compensation of signals are required. Application includes set point or offset trimming, sensor calibration, precision selectable voltage reference, portable instrumentation (battery-powered), calibration of optical communication devices.
  • Rail-to-rail output, SPI interface with 20MHz clock support
  • Simultaneous latching of the dual DACs with active-low LDAC pin
  • Settling time is 4.5µs typ (Within 1/2LSb of final value from 1/4 to 3/4 full-scale range, +25°C)
  • Internal voltage reference range from 2.008 to 2.088V (VOUTA when G = 1x and Code = 0xFFFh, +25°C)
  • Temperature coefficient is 125ppm/°C typ (-40°C to 0°C, VDD = 5V, VSS = 0V, VREF = 2.048V)
  • Resolution is 8bits min (VDD = 5V, VSS = 0V, VREF = 2.048V, +25°C)
  • INL error is ±0.125LSb typ (VDD = 5V, VSS = 0V, VREF = 2.048V, +25°C)
  • DNL is ±0.1LSb typ (VDD = 5V, VSS = 0V, VREF = 2.048V, +25°C)
  • Gain error range from -2 to 2% of FSR (VDD = 5V, VSS = 0V, VREF = 2.048V, +25°C)
  • 8 pin DIP package, extended operating temperature range from -40 to 125°C
