Product Overview
Magnet-free, inductive position sensor ICs that can be used for high-speed absolute position sensing in automotive, industrial, medical and consumer applications. It uses the physical principle of eddy currents to detect the position of a simple metallic target that is moving above a set of coils, consisting of one transmitter coil and two receiver coils. The Renesas IPS2200 family of inductive position sensors for high-speed motor commutation are industrial-qualified and designed for absolute rotor position sensing. Rather than expensive, bulky magnets, this IC uses the physical principle of Eddy currents to detect the position of a simple metallic target moving above a set of coils consisting of one transmitter and two receivers. Magnetic stray field immunity improves the reliability and flexibility of IPS2200 designs. Designed around the needs of the motor, IPS2200 supports end-of-shaft, side-shaft and through-shaft off-axis requirements.
